Amino Acids

What EAAs and BCAAs do, and whether you need them if you already take whey.

Essential amino acids, or EAAs, are the nine amino acids your body can't make, so they have to come from food or a supplement. They include leucine, isoleucine and valine, the three BCAAs.

These guides explain what EAAs and BCAAs do, how they compare, and whether they add anything if you already eat enough protein or take whey.

The short answer: a complete protein such as whey already contains all nine. EAAs earn their place when you train fasted or between meals, want something lighter than a shake, or take a protein that is lower in leucine, such as beef or plant protein.

Fuel Sync EAA gives 7.7 g of essential amino acids per 8.6 g scoop, with 2.5 g of leucine, the amino acid most linked to building muscle. It mixes with 200 ml of water into a light drink, in lemon mojito or raspberry, with 34 servings per tub.
